Have you harvested your Stevia yet? How about Elderberries?
I am debating about picking the Elderberries around here.
I was going to use some black berries down the street but not far in one of the other batches from it it look as if they had sprayed them. They are not far from the Elderberries. I do not know if that will effect them or not.
They didn't spray the blackberries that were by the water filter system. Just a little bit down the road. Can not remember how far you have to pick from a sprayed area.
Hi Flassie ~ I have harvested some of my stevia , but I haven't been satisfied with the results. I tried to extract the sweetness in a water infusion , but it wasn't very sweet. I haven't tried the crushed leaves yet.
We're going through a drought and when I checked on the elderberries , they had dried up or the birds got to them first , so I won't be harvesting elderberries this year (sigh). I was looking forward to having elderberry syrup on hand for the flu season , guess I'll rely on garlic , lemon and honey to get me through the season. I'm not sure about harvesting in areas that have been sprayed or how far away it would be safe to harvest , maybe you can google and find out.
I posted a blog entry on July 16th 2009 of a website about Stevia, if you'd like to check it out. Title is Sweeter than Sugar. I think it is on second page at the moment.
Computer isn't fixed yet. Have some problems with the internet on laptop.
Hi Flassie ~ I read your post about the stevia. My stevia died due to the drought , I was so busy with tomatoes , I neglected to water it. I do have some stevia dried , but need to crush it.
I like that quote!
